Asbestos in Schools

Councils have paid out £10m for School Asbestos Claims!

We see today the BBC are reporting that almost 300 people die each year as a result of being exposed to asbestos in Schools. There are at least 12,600 council run schools where asbestos is known to be present.

It is vital that we educate the teachers, headmasters, school governors etc., in basic asbestos awareness training so that the risks can be minimised and any asbestos in schools is identified and removed in a safe and controlled process.

At eBrit, we have produced a free Asbestos Awareness booklet called A Simple Guide to Asbestos  please take a look and of course help us educate people by sharing this as much as you can.

We also offer free Asbestos Awareness Training to Facilities Management Teams on how to manage their asbestos. To see details of this training, see the article Asbestos in Schools.

Of course, asbestos isn’t only found in council run schools, a similar story will apply to all education establishments built before the year 2.000 and of course any other building as well.

Too many people are still being exposed to asbestos and as a result Mesothelioma kills around 5,000 people each year.
